Ackers Residential Centre - ARC
Situated only 2 miles from the centre of a regenerated and buzzing Birmingham lies Ackers Adventure, a well established centre for
adventurous activities. The site, set in 70 acres of semi-rural land has a varied and wide range of activities on offer including our very own 100m dry ski slope suitable for skiing and
snowboarding, 2 climbing walls and an archery course. Ackers Adventure also benefits from the Grand Union Canal, which runs straight though the site making it an ideal location for
canoeing and kayaking.
Ackers Adventure is a charitable organisation that offers subsidised rates of up to 60% off, to
schools and youth groups, who make up a large proportion of our client base. Other users include the general public, corporate groups and clubs.
2008 saw the opening of the brand new Ackers Residential Centre (ARC). The ARC gives School and Youth
groups the opportunity to come and experience all that the Ackers has to offer and stay on site in a purpose built residential centre.
With the governments outdoor learning manifesto and the push on getting kids active, a visit to
Ackers Adventure is a fantastic opportunity for School & Youth groups, not only, to achieve these goals but also to give students the chance to learn and develop their personal &
social skills in ways that they wouldn't be able to do in a classroom.
Not only does staying at Ackers Adventure give School & Youth groups the opportunity to take part
in adventurous activities on site but it is also an ideal base for exploring the delights and hidden treasures of Birmingham and surrounding areas. To give you an idea, a stay at Ackers
Adventure could be combined with a visit to The Sea Life Centre, Cadbury World, Thinktank, The Bull Ring shopping centre, National Motorcycle Museum, as well as a choice of art galleries,
museums and theatres. Regional Attractions include Stratford - Shakespeare’s Birth place, Warwick Castle, Drayton Manor Park and Ironbridge, to name but a few.
With our experienced and fully qualified team of staff, a residential stay at Ackers Adventure
can be designed to compliment curriculum subjects and topics, and tailor-made to suit the needs and requirements of the group.
Ackers Adventure has 25 years of experience, providing a wide range of activities for all ages and
backgrounds. We have an excellent team of staff and an outstanding health and safety record.
At its maximum The ARC can accommodate up to 23 children and 3 adults, although this ratio can be
changed in accordance with a groups size.
Facilities include ample secluded parking, a fully equipped self catering kitchen, showers (male and
female) and changing rooms, disability lift, cafeteria, function room, picnic and BBQ area and a lecture / teaching area.
