“Children with disabilities thrive on adventure!” said Gary Roskell, Development Director at Mad Hatters when he brought children who benefit from Mad Hatters' support to enjoy a day at Ackers recently. Madhatters is a brilliant charity that helps children with special educational needs and disabilities across the West Midlands and Ackers Adventure is proud to be making safe, outdoor adventure accessible to local children through a new partnership with this local organisation.

Starting in November, about forty children from four local schools will be spending a day every month getting into skiing, archery and bell-boating at Ackers. Under the instruction of specially trained instructors, the kids will all have an opportunity to learn new skills and discover their wild side!

The project aims to offer children with disabilities opportunities to try something different and challenging. All of the children get to meet new friends from across the city and the schools have an opportunity to develop other partnership projects together.

We can’t wait to see how things go with this great project!

Rosie Naseer, Head of Business Development and Communication.

  • several climbing walls and the challenging 25 meter high climbing and abseiling tower from which you can also jump off or zip down!,
  • a residential centre designed for you to stay and be active,
  • a canoeing centre with canoes, kayaks and bellboats,
