We offer a range of outdoor adventurous activities. These include:

AFTER SCHOOL ARCHERY

Every Monday from 4.00 – 5.30pm

 For all those budding Robin Hood’s who would like to try their and at Britain’s oldest pastime.

Open to all 8-16 year olds and only £6.00 per person.

AFTER SCHOOL CLIMBING CLUB

Every Tuesday from 6pm – 7.30pm scale the heights of our Climbing Wall.

Open to all 8 – 16 year olds and costing just £6 per session.

With full guidance from our fully qualified instructors it’s a great way to keep fit and healthy and have fun!

AFTER SCHOOL CANOEING CLUB

Every Wednesday from 6pm – 7.30pm paddle along the Grand Union Canal with our expert instructors.

Teaching you the basics right up to sprint and slalom training.

Negotiate your way around our 70 acres of natural woodland overcoming obstacles and tasks along the way.

* Climbing: The Ackers has 2 specially designed climbing walls, The Crag and The South Face. These feature over 34 different routes plus traverses ranging from a straight scramble all the way to an impressive 6b overhang roof. They range in difficulty and are suitable for complete beginners and experienced climbers.

The walls are both floodlit and are available at all times the centre is open. A great way for experienced climbers to perfect their own technique.

 

 

* Abseiling involves "walking" down the side of a wall / building / rock with the aid of harnesses and ropes. We also have facilities to allow wheelchair users to abseil down our specially designed wall.

* Bridgering offers stimulating manoeuvres using the bridges on site.

Basic climbing courses, coaching, SPA Training and assessment courses are all available at The Ackers. Training can be arranged both on and off site. Please phone for dates and times of courses.

 

* Canoeing: Open canoes can be paddled solo or in tandem using single blade paddles.

* Kayaking: Both inland and placid water can be paddled using a double blade paddle.

* Bellboats are twin-hulled boats that seat up to 10 people and are very stable in the water making them ideal for use with people who are unsure of the water, children's groups and disabled groups.

The Ackers offers a variety of courses (including coaching courses) designed to enable everyone to take up these activities and improve their existing skills. The Ackers has a fleet of boats for use with groups and courses. Tuition can be arranged on canals, lakes or rivers in the Midlands. Please phone for course dates and times.

 

* Archery Britain’s oldest pastime is available to groups and individuals at The Ackers.

* Orienteering The Ackers has a permanent orienteering course with routes varying in length from 1.7km to 3.2 km. Course maps available at reception.

The following activities can be taken as a group at special subsidised group rates for School and Youth organisations.
Skiing, Snowboarding,
Climbing, Abseiling, Bridgering,
Canoeing, Kayaking, Bell boating,
Archery & Team Building.
All are based on a maximum of 10 per group, except snowboarding which has a maximum of 6 per group. Group sessions last 1 1/2 hours (except ski and snowboard which last 1 hour).

We also offer private tuition in all activities.
All activities are suitable for the disabled and those with special needs (both groups and individuals).
